Entering her second season with the Miami University volleyball program is Anna Nies. Nies served as a volunteer assistant in 2006 before becoming a full-time assistant coach prior to the 2007 season.

Nies was a four-year letterwinner in volleyball at Evansville, playing the setter and outside hitter positions. During her undergraduate years, Nies studied abroad in Europe, taking British courses. She earned bachelor's degrees in mass communication and business from Evansville.

Prior to her time at Evansville, Nies prepped at Milan High School (Ind.) where she was an all-conference and all-state selection.

Nies has been a coach with the Oxford, Ohio-based Borderline Volleyball Club for the past two years, with her 2006 team qualifying for the Junior Olympics. Nies is currently working towards a master's degree in sports studies at Miami University.
