OXFORD, Ohio - Miami University junior cross country runner Pat Sovacool has been named to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Men's All-Academic Cross Country Team.

Sovacool is one of 56 student-athlete's honored, representing 38 Division I institutions. To be eligible for the award a student-athlete must carry a minimum 3.25 cumulative grade point average and have completed a minimum 24 semester hours through the 2007 fall term. Additionally, the student-athlete must finish in the top 15 or top ten percent at their respective NCAA regional meet, or receive All-American honors.

Sovacool finished 12th at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional hosted by Indiana University. The Lakewood, Ohio native ran the 10K race in 31:10.73. He previously finished fourth at the MAC Championships and was named first-team All-MAC as well as a member of the MAC All-Academic Team. He won the first three events of the year, setting a course record at the Dayton Flyer 5K Challenge before winning the Purdue Great American Legends Race and the George Mason Invitational.

A graduate of St. Ignatius High School, Sovacool carries a 3.58 grade point average and is majoring in zoology.
